We've tried emailing pictures and that didn't work very well, so we're trying the blog. We'll send out more detailed updates later. For now, pictures..

  1. Pix are great. We got through the first day back at school in great shape. Owen is doing great. Popcorn awaits (and Phineas & Ferb, of course). See you soon, Mom & Dad or Mimi and Papa

  4. Dearest Laura, Eric and Precious Children,

We were soooo happy to get your Christmas card this year. Today was the first chance I had to look at your blog. Your two videos brought tears to my eyes...one was due to laughing, you guess which one that was. Eric, the love in your eyes with Sarah is incredibly touching...and that smile!! I think your face is gonna break! Laura, your gentle, loving touch is palpable in these pictures. It is quite apparent that Sarah is truly blessed to have you in her life. You are lucky parents.

Loved the video of your children dancing...and yes, that included Eric.

We have had a tough year too. In May, we lost a beloved nephew to a motorcycle accident. Only 25. A driver made a left turn in front of him. His parents, my brother, let him go to Jesus on 5/20, 8 days after his accident. Another nephew (my sister's son) was in Afghanistan and they waited for him to come home so he could say good-bye. Many organs were donated so Jake does live on, but our hearts are truly broken. Having to make the decision of removing life support from your child is the most difficult decision that I can imagine. But only weeks before his accident, Jake had told his father (my brother) of his wishes if such an event should occur...so it wasn't my brother's decision, it was Jake's wish.

We wish you much love, happiness and peace in 2012. You have a beautiful family. Thank you for sharing! And enjoy your ever-growing family!

    Chuck and Susan Hovemeyer (shipmates!)
